This song by Chris Brown makes me think about all the things I thought about doing, but I never did them. Sometimes people get mixed emotions and are afraid of showing their loved ones how much they care for them. I believe ever human being has been in this situation. You wish you would’ve done something but never did it, and then later on you regret it. When I heard this song it reminded me of my uncle. I always wanted to tell him how much I loved him, and that he was my favorite uncle. I never got to tell him how much he meant to me because he passed away. Now I realize that if I would have let him know how much I appreciated him in my life; I would not feel this way. I wish I could go back and hug him, kiss him, and let him know how much I loved him. Every one should be able to express their feelings towards their loved ones because you’ll never know when they will be gone.

Say Stop

when I first heard this song by Rihanna I got the Goosebumps. It reminded me about a boy that walked in and out of my life. I kept going back and fourth to him, but one day I just realized I deserved better than him. Although I loved him, I knew he was nothing but a liar. There comes a point in your life that you say, “stop,” and you close your doors to the people that don’t bring anything good in your life. It gets hard at a point, but you’ll find a way out of it. Actions show more than words. I believe that the words “I love you,” are very strong. If someone means it they’ll do anything to show you that that’s the way they feel for you. If all you see are lies it means is time to let go. They are taking you as a game. If they lye more once chances are that they are going to keep on doing it. Rihanna in this song says clearly how even when that someone is trying to apologize is because they are sorry they got caught. If they were really sorry they would had never done it in the first place.

You're not alone

In the song, "you're not alone,“ by Shayne Ward a lot of inspirational thoughts come to my mind. When I first heard this song I thought it was a love song, but when I read the lyrics I changed my mind. This song keeps me going. Even though people might have problems in life, they should never feel alone. There is always going to be that someone standing next to you, or something that keeps you going. Just let the sunshine out in you. There might be tough moments in your life, but they will get better. Life is beautiful. Even when the world is falling down on you, there is going to be that someone holding on to you. This song made me realize to always be positive and not negative. Because no matter what it is, life keeps going.

Creating Yourself

     Mr. Aronson, my English teacher, showed my peers and I a picture of a teenage boy. The teenage boy had red hair. He is wearing some dark blue jeans with a sweater. He is drawing himself from the top of a birds view. He looks focus concentrating on drawing himself. His leg is crossed, and he is barefoot. The font at the bottom of the page was cracked. He is creating himself in the way he wants to be seen. This picture represents that life is about creating yourself. Many people don’t take their time on creating themselves instead they copy someone else. This picture is trying to tell you to always be who you are, and not someone else.

Nobody's Nigger

After reading I Am Nobody’s Nigger written by Dean Atta I realized many things. Many people tend to use the word “Nigger” like it’s nothing. At first I thought the word nigger was meant to be heard when one colored person is talking to another colored person. However it is not even though now a days every one is saying it. Artist are singing it like it’s just a word. After I finished reading this I noticed not every one appreciates when artist use the word “Nigger”. To many people is more than just a word. It has a strong meaning and it is not meant to be said that word like it’s nothing. The word “Nigger” was said every time a black person was hung out of a tree. This reading gave me the real definition of “Nigger”. Even when famous rappers put it out there; people should not say it. First learn the definition of a word, and what it means to others. The word “Nigger” to many people out there means “friend, homie, bro”. That’s why is commonly used. I think People are afraid to tell each other they love each other. That’s why they use the word “Nigger”. I was never a fan of that word therefore I never use it. However to the people that do, you guys should take a good look at that word before you use it because it is making many people out there angry, and it can cause a serious damage.

Admittance to a better life

                                Michael Oatman writes about how his education saved him from either getting killed or being in jail. This is a great example for many people out there that think they can’t be someone successful in life just because they think they are not good at anything. Michael discovered what he was good at and improved on it and know he is a writer. Sometimes things get in the way and you end up in the streets with nothing good in your life. However it is all on you to become someone better in life. The best way to avoid temptations is to focus on things that keep you busy. My brother for example was in the wrong path he was just with friends doing nothing good with his life. Then later on he found out he was passionate about animals he decided to volunteer at a pet store. He now is going to school to become a vet. He always tells me that he is glad he found something he liked because if it was not for that he would probably be drop out with no education. Everyone needs education in order to improve in life. When you are a nobody and you become a well educated person you are inspiring many people to move up. Making change in your life is a great way to show people what you are really about and think higher of you rather than just a nobody that has no goals for the future. Every single person has a talent you just need to figure out what you are good at. It is never too late to go back to school or even avoiding people that are just getting you into trouble and are no help for you.

Doll face

                                Mr. Aronson showed the class a you tube video of a doll face watching T.V. When I first saw the video it looked creepy and different from all the videos I have ever seen. I asked myself what’s going on?, after I saw it twice I realized that the doll face wanted to be exactly like the girl on T.V. The doll face was working very hard to be exactly like the girl on TV with no limits the TV kept going further and further but the doll face kept reaching out. When the TV breaks the doll face breaks too. This video showed me that desire can be deadly. The doll face wanted to be just like the girl on TV without thinking about the consequences until she felt apart. I learned from this video that make-up can do a huge difference. I think you should not be someone you are not because eventually you will break, because that is not the real you. I think people tend to want to fit in and are afraid to be themselves, but that can be dangerous. Too much change is not good you are hiding the real you. When you are copying something and it makes you feel good, and you are being hurt that can be an addiction. Media brings a lot of new ideas like: music, make-up, clothing, and style. However people might take it too far and try to be exactly like things that come on TV, but that is no good. Don’t be afraid to show the real you; it can cause you damages to you.

Same = boring

America is a place where people come for the American dream. For freedom. Freedom allows every individual to be able to believe in anything they choose to believe. It allows people to pick their own religion, dress, and be themselves. Alaa El-Saal was scared when she started middle school because she thought her peers were going to make fun of her for wearing the hijab. Alaa did the right thing she decided to wear it any way. Every one should do what they believe in without being afraid of being different. Diversity takes a big role in school and work. If the people around each other were not diverse everything will be the same. Same=boring. America unlike many other places in the world allows you to do many things that you believe in. People should take advantage of that by showing the world why they are different from the rest. Being different is always a good thing. It even interest others to learn about you, and your religion. Always remember America's beauty is in it's diversity. So stand up for who and what you are. It's okay to be different.

Be Yourself

 After reading being content with yourself, I realized that a skin color does not have to make you do things you don't want to, or be some one who you do not desire to be. A skin color is just the out side. People might get surprise if you're black and act chinese, white, or Mexican etc. However you have the choice of how you want to act. What kind of music you want to hear, how you want to dress, and what kind of people you want to be with. Although a skin color can represent your race and nationality. It does not mean you have to represent a unsophisticated trait. You might not act a certain way because you are better than what others want you to be. It is just that you have hope for yourslef and are into other things. What actions you take in life is what really represents who you are not a skin color. Looks are nothing personality is evrything. Being content with yourself is the most important thing. If you are happy with what you do, look, and act that is all that matters. Being content with yourslef is more than enough to realize that what you are doing is good. If you feel good about yourself what every one else has to say about you does not matter at all.

Blonde Moment

                                       When I look at this picture and quote I think how this women is having a blonde moment. Having a blonde moment means you are acting dumb. It is using stereotype because it used a blonde women saying the word “Omg.” You might be laughing at the picture, but in reality there is other cases where we also do the same. For example when someone says, “I have to exercise a lot to be fit.” It is obvious that when you want to become something you have to work very hard for it. Even though you don’t see it we all have those blonde moments. What this picture is trying to say is stop having those blonde moments and get into the real world. You have to put all your effort into things you want. Don’t think about it and complain. Instead just do what you have to do and don’t ask the obvious. Reading a lot is never a lot if you are doing it to succeed. Don’t complain about things that you have to do because then you are going to be having that blonde moment and people are going to laugh at you.

She’d left corporate law to teach a prison writing workshop. Her parents and friends thought she was a liberal fool. Her husband was afraid she’d be assaulted.

There are guards everywhere, she explained, and my students have earned the right to be there.

On august Wednesday, as she was reading a poem to her nine students, the riot began. She was trapped. She’d signed the waiver. She would not be rescued.

She tried not to scream as her students carried her into a supply closet. God, she thought, help me. But her students, laughing, bundled her into a large cardboard box, loosely it shut, and lifted her onto a high shelf.

Don’t move until the guards come looking, one voice said to her.

                                 When I first read the stanza that Sherman Alexie wrote I thought that she was going to get rapped since she was surrounded by prisoners. However after I finished reading I changed my mind. Many people think that prisoners are dangerous and horrible people. However that’s not always the case. Prisoners can be the most loyal people. When I was in high school I had a teacher who taught at a jail. She always said that the prisoners that she was teaching will have her back no matter what. She knew that if someone was messing with her she can call them and they will have some one defending her in a heart beat. Prisoners appreciate when people do nice stuff for them because they know that there is a bigg amount of other people that just criticize them and judge them just for the fact that they are in jail. The reason why the guys in jail were trying to protect her was because they had loyalty for her and appreciate how she was teaching them poetry, they know they won’t be having teachers in there with them all the time because they know not every one will like to teach at a jail. My best friends brother, who’s been in jail before and is a gang member, once told us that he will seriously take a bullet for anyone who helped him out when he most needed them and made a big impact in his life. The people that you expect the least from sometimes can be the most helpful and appreciated people and you can see this in the reading how the prisoners helped out their teacher. They hid her so she won’t be seen. She could’ve possibly been hurt but she wasn’t because of her students in jail.

Famouse Failures

                               In class Mr. Aronson showed my peers and I a you tube video about famous failures. It showed the most popular people, and how they once failed. When I first saw this video I thought it was impossible that someone like Dr. Seuss once failed because his first book was rejected by 27 publishers; especially since he is some one that I looked up to since I was younger. This video made me realized that in order to succeed in life you need to fail at least once. We all have struggles in life but that is never an excused to not achieve your goals in life. All you need is motivation; just keep swimming and swimming and you’ll make it where you want to go. By giving up on your first try is like giving up your dream but not only that but giving up on yourself. It does not matter how many times you keep trying. What matters the most is when you accomplish your goal and you show the world what you are really all about. Even the smartest people have been rejected and done mistakes. You look up to them for a reason. They had obviously done mistakes in life. However they tried and work very hard to get up there where they are at. It does not matter where you come from or where you are standing. Look at Emenim he was a high school drop out was involved in drugs, but he got out of that and made his dream come true. Sometimes things get in the way, and you might think it’s impossible to fight for your dream, but think about it what’s life without mistakes? It’s nothing. It’s nothing because in order to have fun in life you need to try new things, and that takes practice. It’s not only about dreaming; it is about making your dreams come true.
